What is a facelift?
A facelift (rhytidectomy) is an operation that lifts and repositions the sagging tissues of the mid and lower face and neck and removes excess skin, to soften jowls and restore a defined jawline. In a deep plane facelift the surgeon releases and lifts the deeper layer beneath the skin (the SMAS), so the face is lifted rather than the skin pulled tight.
Because ageing affects the brows, eyelids, cheeks, jawline and neck together, a facelift is often planned with a neck lift, eyelid surgery, a brow lift or fat transfer. Went to AYT for upper eye surgery, and I am delighted with the results. Most of the bruising had gone very quickly after 7 days of taking Arnica tablets (bought in the UK; they don't seem to sell the tablets in Turkey) and using the Arnica cream provided by AYT. It is well worth the money to have it done. The procedure didn't hurt and took less than an hour. What is recovery like after a facelift?
Swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness are normal in the first days and are controlled with medication. This is a typical timeline:
